Family Friends And Colleagues To Call For Fogels Release

Western Pennsylvanians to Rally at White House for Detained American Marc Fogel

Family, Friends, and Colleagues to Call for Fogel's Release

A group of Western Pennsylvanians will head to the White House on Saturday to rally for Marc Fogel, an American teacher who has been detained in Russia since August 2021. The rally is being organized by Fogel's family, friends, and colleagues, who are calling for his immediate release.

"We are deeply concerned about Marc's health and well-being," said Mike Kelly, the Republican congressman who represents the district where Fogel lives. "He has been unjustly detained for far too long, and we are asking President Biden to do everything in his power to bring him home."

Fogel was arrested in Russia in August 2021 after he was found with a small amount of medical marijuana. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison, a sentence that has been condemned by U.S. officials and human rights groups.

The Biden administration has said that it is working to secure Fogel's release, but there have been no indications that a breakthrough is imminent. In the meantime, Fogel's family and friends are continuing to raise awareness of his case and push for his release.
